Welcome to One More Game Presented by Hoosier Pickleball. I’m your host Matt Brandenberger alongside my wife, Abby, and our producer, Adam Merino. AND if you joined us a month or so ago for Part 1– you’ll know that we are joined by–former president of Indy Pb club, current partner of Becca, dad of Pickle and van-owning traveler, pb star–Marcus Woodhouse! Did that cover it all?? So this is Part 2 of our interview with Marcus. We had originally wanted to record this when we were recording the first part, we ran out of time, so we had to schedule a time for Marcus and Becca to come back up and play with us again. This was actually just our ploy to get them back up here and play with us because no one else wants to. Our first episode got rave reviews, someone even said “I fell in love with Marcus Woodhouse!”
We are looking forward to hearing more of his story today…
Let’s start out with what would be your Ideal Day
What are you working on currently in your game?
You’ve played with us a little- coach us up! What’s one thing you’d say we each need to work on?
How about relationship-wise… any tips on that?... Seriously though, how do you handle those dynamics playing with a real-life partner and how have you seen that transpire in others?
Do you do any instructing on the side? … Give our listeners a tip or two that you think is most important… start with beginners and then we will talk advanced…
**COMMERCIAL BREAK**
Welcome back to One More Game presented by Hoosier Pickleball. We are joined once again by Marcus Woodhouse- Indiana Pickleball Legend— and in Part 1 we talked about your adoption story…. And you’ve mentioned a couple times as part of your current story that you’ve been living with Parkinsons for a little while now–Can you walk us through how you started seeing some concerning signs/symptoms and how you ended up being diagnosed?
How much does it affect your play on the court–I mean it seems pretty amazing from an outsiders perspective that you’re able to play at such a high level!
How did you process that and how will you continue to adjust physically and mentally to that?
Was there anything in particular your Doctors said that you found encouraging or discouraging?
What role does Pickleball play as you continue to deal with your illness?
How do you stay strong? Obv pb is part of this, but do you have a stretching routine? Any weights?
Is there any particular treatment you’re looking into?
Do you have any encouragement to offer someone going through serious health concerns?
End with a fun game of either/or:
Drive or Dink
Coke or Pepsi
Wheat or an IPA
Left side or Right side
Jordan or LeBron
Chicago Pizza or New York Style
Mixed or Mens (or Singles)
Spin Serve or Ban it!
Hat or Headband (or neither)
You win the toss… serve or side (now we call it an end)
Ruby Tuesdays or TGI Fridays
More satisfying… Body bag or ATP
